Trabzon Investment Island Industrial Zone is planned to be constructed by Trabzon Yatırım Adası Endüstri Bölgesi Yönetici A.Ş. on a marine space of 2,772,276.262 m2 (277.22 hectares) fully owned by the state.

Decision has been taken stating that “no EIA process is required” regarding the project. New space is foreseen to be created by means of sea embankment and fortification works within the scope of the project with an investment of TL 2,129,554,296.00.

A three year construction period is foreseen for works consisting of raising the area to an elevation of +5 meters on the sea where the sea depth is between 0 and 20 meters according to bathymetric measurements with a rock fill of 33,252,805.90 and a protection layer with concrete blocks of 647,695.72 m3. A minimum of two access roads with bridges will be constructed at the area in line with the opinions of the 10th Regional Directorate of State Highways providing entry and exit routes for the industrial zone. Dredging works will be performed in line with the hydro-graphic and oceanographic study reports to be prepared within the scope of the project. The entirety of works to be performed within the scope of the project will be tendered and machinery and equipment to be used will have to be provided by the company winning the contract in the tender.

The area located in Arşin county of Trabzon was announced as “Trabzon Investment Island Industrial Zone” upon a Presidential decree which was published in the Official Gazette dated August 24, 2019. An investment of around $ 1.2 billion is foreseen to be made by the private sector in the Industrial Zone for superstructure works aiming to realize exports from the zone amounting to around $ 8 billion.
