Cenal Enerji Çanakkale-Karabiga Thermal Power Plant Project

First unit of 1,320 MW Power Plant started to sell electricity as from November 7, 2017

Cenal Enerji A.Ş. founded by Cengiz Enerji and Alsim Alarko on 50% shares each, groups of note with energy investments in the energy sector in recent years, has announced electricity generation will start on November 7, 2017 by the first unit of 660 MW of import coal fuel thermal Power Plant to be constructed in Karabiga, Çanakkale.

In the announcement of Alarko Holding, it is communicated the construction Works of 660 MWe installed capacity no. 1 unit of 1,320 MW installed capacity Coal based Electricity Power Plant installed by Cenal Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. in Karabiga have been completed and it will be commissioned on 07.11.2017 to start generation and selling electricity.

Provisional acceptance of the first unit of Power Plant has been made by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MENR) and final acceptance process will be concluded after the other unit completed.

CENAL Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. of Cengiz Enerji and Alsim Alarko on 50% shares each, has been founded on 11.05.2011 for realization of 1,320 MWe (2x660 MWe) / 1,380 MWm / 2,926 MWt installed capacity import coal fuel CENAL Enerji Power Plant, pier, ash storage area and Deep Sea Discharge Project on total 454,518 m2 land on 6,759 (former 5,229 and 5,230) lot belong to the subject company at Çanakkale province, Biga county, Karabiga district, Kadıoğlu quarter.

As it might be recalled, in accordance with progress reported of EMRA, physical realization ratio of Power Plant reached 70%  TEBA:October 20, 2017. Power Plant’s machinery, equipment supply and engineering services (EPC) would be realized by French Alstom. Alstom would supply ultra-supercritical boiler and steam turbine generator of Karabiga Thermal Power Plant to be the first ultra-supercritical (USC) Power Plant of Turkey TEBA:1682/ October 6, 2014.
