Important Statements by Berat Albayrak, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources

The specifications for Wind YEKA will be submitted to the Official Gazette today. The contest will be held by the end of July, 27 July if I remember right. Our second offshore exploration vessel (MTA Oruç Reis) will be leaving for the Mediterranean Sea next week, and we will start the process by then."

Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak expressed his opinions about the energy market of Turkey on a television program on April 12, 2017.

Stating that Turkey has completed its steps for solar power within the scope of its national energy strategy, Minister Albayrak said: "We told that we are preparing, and will soon complete the Wind Renewable Energy Source Area (YEKA). The specifications sheet will be sent to the official gazette today. The contest will be held by the end of July, 27 July if I remember right. On the days following July 27, we will find ourselves taking this step once more with another 1000 MW structure and above all, with the precondition of more than 65 percent domesticity and employment of more than 80 percent Turkish engineers."

"The second vessel will be in the Mediterranean Sea next week"

Stating that Turkey has not been able to exploit the regional energy resources so far, Albayrak said:

This is a very intensive strategy that incorporates mining, drilling and exploration. It is necessary to make exploration throughout Turkey and take a very solid picture of it. We will start the process when our second offshore exploration vessel (MTA Oruç Reis) will leave for the Mediterranean Sea next week. Turkey will not act the way it did on the Mediterranean Sea. It will be more effective and active with regard to our own fields. We have always been rather positive and constructive, and will continue to be so but we will not justify illegitimacy with our quiet and constructive attitude. We will take every step necessary. Turkey acts according to laws. We have not been able to use our own fields efficiently. There were cost analyses, etc. However, Turkey has the necessary infrastructure now. We have purchased a drilling ship for the first time in the history of the Republic. We are starting to drill our own wells. We have to lay the groundwork for the future in this long journey."
