The Railway Company of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Etihad Rail has extended the deadline for the submitting of financial bids by shortlisted international companies for the design and construction of a new high speed railway at a speed of 300 km/h on a new routing between Abu Dhabi and Dubai and only for passenger transportation TEBA:January 22, 2025 Those interested shall submit bids until September 1, 2025. It is being stated that international companies interested in the tender have formed joint ventures to submit bids. It is determined that construction works are divided in two packages consisting of four sections (1A/1B/1C/1D). Abu Dhabi package will consist of “A, 1B and 1D sections as mentioned below and Dubai package will consist of section 1C. The sections are defined as follows: Stage 1A: from Al-Zahiyah to Yas Island (23.5 km) The job will also encompass significant tunnel boring works at a length of 31 km. The UAE’s high speed railway (HSR) program will be put into life in four stages and additional connections will be annexed to other areas in the UAE. The first stage consists of the construction works of a railway line between Abu Dhabi and Dubai estimated to be commissioned until 2030. The second stage will encompass the development of an urban railway network in Abu Dhabi with 10 stations. The third stage of the railway network encompasses the construction of a connecting line between Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain. The fourth stage consists of a connection between the Emirates of Dubai and Sharjah. The first stage of the HSR at a length of 150 km will extend to Al-Jaddaf in Dubai from Al-Zahiyah in Abu Dhabi. The railway line will feature 5 stations. These will be at Al-Zahiyah (ADT), Saadiyat Island (ADS), Yas Island (YAS), Abu Dabi Airport (AUH) and Al-Jaddaf (DJD) in Dubai. ADT, AUH and DJD stations will be located underground. ADS will be an elevated station and YAS will be at surface level. It is stated that the scope of the tender also encompasses the rolling stock, rail systems and two maintenance depots.
