Yapı Merkezi also Undertakes the 4th Phase of Dar es Salaam - Mwanza Railway Line

Yapı Merkezi thus having undertaken the construction works of the longest railway in Africa has also been the first Turkish company having undertaken a railway line of such a length (1,211 km in total) abroad. Yapı Merkezi has accordingly undertaken the entirety of construction, signaling, telecommunication and electrification works including the side tracks of the 165 km single track railway upon signing the contract for the 4th phase of the project. Yapı Merkezi, one of the prominent contracting companies in Turkey having undersigned and completed a number of gigantic projects worldwide has also undertaken the 4th phase works extending to Isaka from Tabora after the first, second and third phases of Dar es Salaam - Mwanza Railway in Tanzania. Yapı Merkezi had undertaken the 3rd phase works in December due to its success in the 1st and 2nd phases of the project TEBA:2050/ December 28, 2021

Yapı Merkezi having been awarded the contract also for the 4th phase in a short time frame such as 7 months has thus undertaken the construction works of the longest railway in Africa also having undertaken the longest railway line in the world as a Turkish company. Yapı Merkezi has accordingly undertaken the entirety of construction, signaling, telecommunication and electrification works including the side tracks of the 165 km single track railway encompassing 3 stations, a maintenance workshop, a depot area and the Railway Institute on the line between Tabora and Isaka in addition to all infrastructure works in the turnkey construction works of the single track railway line in Tanzania. Yapı Merkezi plans to complete the section at a cost of $ 900 million in 42 months which is the 4th phase of the 1211 km railway between Dar es Salaam and Mwanza.

A signing ceremony was held on July 5 in Dar es Salaam regarding the 4th phase works of the railway line extending to Isaka from Tabora in Tanzania.

Yapı Merkezi Holding’s CEO Aslan Uzun participating in the signing ceremony and noting that they feel the happiness of adding another project to all successful projects realized in Africa until date, spoke as follows: “Our company had already undertaken the works of the initial 3 phases of Dar es Salaam - Mwanza Railway which is the fastest high speed train line in East Africa which we are now realizing. Test drives have recently been started on our first electric locomotive line in the Sub-Saharan Africa. Officials of Tanzanian Railways have also awarded the contract for the works of the 4th phase to us which is a section of this very important railway line in the Tanzanian Republic based on the trust they had in the meticulous job quality of Yapı Merkezi. We have put our signatures for the 165 km 4th phase of the project in question. We are proud to be a part of this iconic and environment-friendly project”.
