ALSTOM and ASELSAN Sign a Cooperation Agreement

ALSTOM, one of the prominent railway companies in Europe will cooperate with ASELSAN (Military Electronics Industries Inc.) on the signalling works of the European Train Control System (ETCS).

The main target of the cooperation agreement signed by ASELSAN’s Vice President Dr. İbrahim Bekar and ALSTOM’s Director for the Middle East and Turkey Mama Sougoufara is determined as the founding of a long term partnership providing cooperation either in modernization works and the development of new products in the global and local markets by the two pioneering institutions in the field of rail systems.

ASELSAN’s Vice President Dr. İbrahim Bekar noting that a synergy will emerge with the experience of ALSTOM and the technological capacity of ASELSAN, said “The cooperation in question will help us achieve the Targets set forth in the 11th Development Plan of the country, having access to global markets and selling products in the field of railway systems.”

Also, ALSTOM’s Director for the Middle East and Turkey Mama Sougoufara made the following statement: “We are excited by having been in cooperation with a prominent company in Turkey like ASELSAN. ALSTOM will contribute to the modernization of railways in Turkey carrying them to international standards by means of such a long term cooperation agreement. I fully have the faith that this partnership will achieve efficient and innovative results in the implementation of ERTMS in-vehicle solutions for safe operations on Turkish and global railway networks.”

ALSTOM has activities in Turkey since over 60 years. Istanbul bureau provides services as a regional center for AMECA (Africa, Middle east and Central Asia) region and Alstom Digital Mobility (ADM) and also for System and Infrastructure Projects. The activities of the regional center encompass tender management, project management, engineering, resource supply, training and maintenance services.
