A Technical Cooperation Protocol Has Been Signed between Alstom Turkey and Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ)

An agreement is signed on April 3, 2018 before Rector of İTÜ Karaca, Alstom’s Managing Director for Turkey Arban Çitak and Mama Sougoufara, Alstom Group’s Deputy President of Infrastructure for Middle East and Africa

A Technical Cooperation Protocol is signed on April 3, 2018, 12:00 hours between Alstom of France having activities in Turkey since 60 years and Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) which is one of the most deep rooted universities in Turkey, to develop cooperation in the field of education in Turkey.

The agreement has been signed before Rector of Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, Alstom’s Managing Director for Turkey Arban Çitak and Mama Sougoufara, Alstom Group’s Deputy President of Infrastructure for Middle East and Africa. The validity of the agreement has been determined as 5 years with an option for extension.

The partnership will focus on the education of the engineering students of İTÜ and the new employed at Alstom on the field of “Railway Engineering”. Those who are employed at Alstom will be educated and trained by instructors of Alstom and İTÜ and the number of experts will thus be increased for sub-systems such as line works and power supply. The first training session on “Railway Engineering” within the scope of the agreement is realized between the dates of March 26 and 30.

Experts from Alstom will introduce the Railway sector to the engineering students of İTÜ within the scope of the partnership and will give information on the worldwide experience of Alstom and significant projects. The partnership will also encompass seminars, workshops, conferences, symposiums, congresses, meetings and introductory events to be organized with the participation of both parties.

Alstom’s Managing Director for Turkey Arban Çitak spoke as follows on the matter, “This partnership will encourage the young and talented engineers of İTÜ to be a part of the sector and will help in enhancing awareness in the Turkish railway sector and qualified work force, and contribute to the sector by means of qualified Turkish Alstom engineers with expertise in the field.”

Also, Rector İTÜ Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca made the following statement: “İTÜ has been an academic institution with the most privileged experience in the field upon working on transport systems and solutions since the day it was founded. This accumulation of experience has also been of a guiding nature in shaping the future of our university. An academic development is being targeted within the framework of thematic and hybrid technologies and transportation is being considered to be among priority fields in both areas. The education of a specialized work force is being targeted whereas steps are also being taken that will be of a guiding nature for the sector by means of innovative solutions that are being realized in line with these studies. The pioneering mission undertaken by İTÜ in different segments and stages of the transportation sector develops by means of the experience of distinguished project partners and provides returns in terms of studies enhancing comfort in the social life of our country and also safeguarding technological superiority.”
