DHMİ, 3rd Airport Project in Istanbul

İGA CEO Yusuf Akçayoğlu, "In Airport construction, physical realization ratio reached 52.5%. Our target is to complete the Project within 2018."

It is announced that physical realization ratio reached 52.5% of İstanbul New Airport, under construction by İGA şirketine (Limak+Cengiz+Kolin+Mapa+Kalyon) as assigned by State Airports Administration (DHMİ) General Directorate on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model as the biggest investment of recent years.

İGA Airports Senior Manager (CEO) Yusuf Akçayoğlu has commented on the Project at the 2017 Annual Summit of International Transportation Forum (ITF) organized in Leipzig, Germany. Akçayoğlu has noted that 52.5% of the construction of airport completed and said, "In construction works, you may not control all parameters in some cases, weather conditions are very important. Because you work outside on exisitng physical conditions. Winter conditions were hard, even now it is raining everyday. We calculate how we can progress further for covering such losses."

As it might be recalled we reported that construction Works suspended for winter conditions, started again and locations were handed over to various institutions to render services at the airport. In the meantime, we also reported that discussions continued among the co-workers for organizing the transfers from Atatürk Airport TEBA:1807/ March 16, 2017

Project targeted to be completed in 2018

Akçayoğlu has further noted that their target to start operations at the airport after completion of construction Works is 2018 and went on to say, "Our target to start operations at this biggest Project of Turkey in 2018". Akçayoğlu has noted that İstanbul New Airport will contribute a lot not only to Turkey but also to World aviation and transportation sector and said, "We are sure that many airway companies will apply for our airport. We will pave ground for reducing the airway tickest across the world."

Underlining the geographical location of Turkey is advantageous from competition perspective, Akçayoğlu said, "This makes Turkey a very competitive in the field of transportation. We can easily add all other fields of activity as to be the intersection of transportation, energy etc. We are sure that many airway companies will apply for our airport. There will be no problem in respect of our slot number and also we will help them to increase their capacity. We will pave ground for reducing the airway tickest of world passengers”.
