Kolin Group’s Etki Seaport Enterprises, FSRU Project

Siemens Turkey has realized the design, manufacturing and the commissioning of Automation, Electrification, Fire and Gas Warning Systems, Integrated Telecom and Safety Systems of the first floating LNG terminal of Turkey

Siemens Turkey took part as a solution partner in Turkey’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU) in Izmir Aliağa owned by Etki Seaport Services Inc. within the body of Kolin Group.

Siemens Turkey has realized the design, manufacturing and the commissioning of automation, electrification, fire and gas warning systems, integrated telecom and safety systems of the floating LNG terminal. Siemens having signed an agreement in August 2016 with Kolin+Kalyon Joint Venture (KKJV) completed the project in 4 months as stipulated.

The first floating LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) terminal expected to be used during winter months when needs for natural gas are at high levels, will have a natural gas feeder capacity of 14 million cubic meters nominally to the natural gas network of the country. Natural gas will be transmitted to the network upon re-gasification by means of FSRU at the terminal following the transportation process on LNG vessels in liquid form upon being cooled to minus 1600 degrees Celsius.

Possible risks will be avoided at the terminal by means of integrated safety and fire warning systems within the scope of the project where automation systems of Siemens are employed and where communication is realized in an unmanned manner over the FSRU and the terminal. BOTAŞ operating the National Natural Gas Network will be able to have access to all information and data both at the LNG vessel and the FSRU besides the terminal which has been arranged to supply real time data to the National Natural Gas Network.

As will be recalled, the first floating LNG terminal of Turkey in Izmir Aliağa was opened on December 23, 2016 with the participation of President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak TEBA:1795/ December 23, 2016.
