Turkey-Russia High Level Cooperation Council Meeting
President Erdoğan, "I believe that our cooperation in the field of Akkuyu and Turkish Stream will be model for other fields of cooperation. We put forward a strong will by the agreements signed today."
Russian Head of State Putin, "A new joint investment Fund to be founded on USD 1 billion capital. Turkey’s potential to be a transit country for the natural gas will further increase by Turkish Stream Natural Gas Pipeline Project."
President Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian Head of State Vladimir Putin has come together on March 10, 2017 in Moscow, on the occasion of Turkey-Russia High Level Cooperation Council (ÜDİK) meeting and held a press conference. Underlining Turkey and Russia have every intention to promote deep rooted and special relations between the two countries, Erdoğan said, "By the mutual steps taken in recent months, new moved forward in the direction of normalizing the relations between the two countries." Erdoğan, "We await Russia to lift all restrictions in economic relations with Turkey. Only this way, we will be able to reach USD 100 billion trade volume which we announced in the past. Because we already had realized USD 38 billion target but because of recent events, it receded to USD 17 billion. I do believe in the fact that now we will compensate this. We want to break a record particularly in the field of tourism this year. here, I invite our Russian friends to my country. They come and enjoy the historical, touristic and cultural beauties." Underlining the importance of increasing trade on national currencies, President Erdoğan has noted that thus, Russian people would use Ruble in their trade with Turkey, Turks would use Turk Lira in Russia. Erdoğan also said, "I believe that our cooperation in the field of Akkuyu and Turkish Stream will be model for other fields of cooperation. We put forward a strong will by the agreements signed today. Formation of Turk-Rus joint investment fund means a serious step, a strong step was taken. All these agreements and decisions taken today will compensate the loss of time and will constitute a breakthrough in relations between the two countries." Putin, "A new joint investment to be founded" Speaking at the opening of the meeeting, Putin has noted Turkey and Russia have a great potential for enhancing the cooperation in the fields of metallurgy, automobile production, agriculture-industrial complex and agricultural tools, and put emphasis on Turkey to be a transit country for the natural gas by Turkish Stream Natural Gas Pipeline Project. Putin, dwelling upon Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant project, said, “Rosatom carries on Akkuyu project, to be the first Nuclear Power Plant of Turkey. Russian companies have also took place in modernization process of hydroelectricity power plants in Turkey. We have capacity to deepen the cooperation in the fields of industry, automotive and agriculture. The business circles of these two countries have to improve the cooperation in the fields of innovation, science and technology.” Putin has noted in the press conference that a medium term program covering 2017-2020 period was signed for enhancing the mutual trade and services and said, “In the meantime, we will form a new joint investment fund on USD 1 billion capital. Agreement to this effect was signed right now.” 8 agreements signed Between the two countries, 8 agreements were signed, namely, "Cooperation Agreement Between Anadolu Ajansı and TASS News Agency, 2017-2020 Medium Term Program on Commercial, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on Training Diplomatic Personnel and Sharing Information, Declaration of Year of Mutual Culture and Tourism in 2019 between the Republic of Turkey and Russia Federation, Cooperation Protocol between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey and the Public Prosecutor Office of the Russia Federation, Memorandum of Understanding between Turkish Patent and Brand Agency and Russia Federation Rights of Intellectual Property Federal Service, Memorandum of Understanding on establishment of Russian-Turk Investment Fund, Memorandum of Understanding between Republic of Turkey Small and Medium Scale Establishments Development and Supporting Administration and Opora Rossii Small and Medium Scale Establishments Whole Russia Non-Governmental Organization".
