Bombardier Signs a Framework Agreement with the Federal Railways of Austria for 300 TALENT 3 Trains

The first order was signed for 21 TALENT 3 trains under a €1.8-billion agreement. The trains will be used for regional transportation, and delivered in 2019

Bombardier Transportation has signed a framework agreement with the Federal Railways of Austria (ÖBB) for 300 Bombardier TALENT 3 Trains.

While the total price of the agreement is €1.8 billion ($1.9 billion), the first order was placed for 21 TALENT 3 trains with a total cost of €150 million ($156 million).

In his statement, Christian Diewald, the General Director of Bombardier Transportation Austria GmbH said: "This framework agreement is a great success for Bombardier. ÖBB is one of the most renowned and punctual railway organizations in Europe. By choosing TALENT 3, they have purchased a product with high acceleration and reliability that will enable them to maintain their train tariffs with the same punctuality in geographically challenging areas.

The next generation TALENT 3 trains will be delivered in 2019

The next generation TALENT 3 trains offer a modern flexibility of use, low energy consumption and a significant reduction in operating costs. TALENT 3 has the largest body in its class, offering 50% more seats compared to the previous generation, thus while it increases travel comfort, it allows faster circulation of passengers. Currently 1,400 trains of TALENT family are in use in Europe and Canada. 187 vehicles among them are used by ÖBB in Austria.

These trains are expected to strengthen the connection between rural and urban areas in Vorarlbeg region of Austria and neighboring countries as they increase the local mass transit capacity in daily passenger transportation services. These trains that will be used for regional transportation will be delivered in 2019.
