Noteworhty Statements by Energy Minister Albayrak

"Turkey's priority in the fields of energy is to diversify the sources of natural gas, electricity, nuclear and renewable energy. In mid-Summer, 1,000 MW wind energy projects will be announced. In next 10 years, we target to reach minimum 10.000 MW kapasity in renewable energy projects based on solar and wind. We will starts significant initiatives in exploration and drillings this year, principally in the Black Sea and Mediterranean."

You may find in the following the statements of Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak made on Turkey’s energy sector in the IHS CERAWeek 2017 Energy Conference held in Houston, Texas, USA.

Noting 60% of total oil and natural gas reserves of the World are found in the region where Turkey located, Albayrak has said that Turkey has intended to diversify sources and routes in the field of natural gas. Albayrak has also noted that in addition to natural gas supplied by Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Nigeria and Algeria, investments continued to be made on liquidized natural gas (LNG) and floating LNG ship projects.

“In mid-Summer, 1,000 MW wind energy projects will be announced”

Communicating Turkey's potential is immense in respect of renewable energy like hydroelectricity, solar and wind, Albayrak has noted that the cost of renewable energy reduced and investments increase in recent years. Communicating in mid-Summer, 1,000 MW wind energy projects will be announced, Albayrak has said that in next 10 years, minimum 10,000 MW capacity in renewable energy projects based on solar and wind was targeted to be reached.

Reporting last year, wind of 1,400 MW capacity has been included into the system, Albayrak has noted that Turkey planned to meet minimum two third of her energy portfolio from local energy sources. Albayrak said, "We invite energy companies and investors to Turkey's energy sector. Turkey's priority in the fields of energy is to diversify the sources of natural gas, electricity, nuclear and renewable energy".

"We will starts significant initiatives in exploration and drillings this year, principally in the Black Sea and Mediterranean

Minister Albayrak has dwelt upon oil and natural gas exploration efforts and said, "We will starts significant initiatives in exploration and drillings this year, principally in the Black Sea and Mediterranean. After our first seismic exploration ship, Barbaros Hayrettin, with our second seismic exploration ship, we will start more active, two digits and three digits, seismic research and exploration works in the Mediterranean and Black Sea. Turkey is in a period when important initiatives have to be taken.
