Eurasia Rail 2017 (II)

According to disclosures made during Eurasia Rail, there will be a need of 7,000 rail transport vehicles for inner-city transport in Turkey until 2023 including vehicles to be renewed such as metro, LRT, tramcars, tram-busses and commuter vehicles – 100 percent Turkish made metro vehicles produced in the company’s factory in Ankara will be started to be operated in Bangkok, Thailand in 2018 within the scope of the procurement project of 22 metro vehicles executed with the partnership of Siemens and Bozankaya…

The railway and rail systems sector in Turkey were taken up during the International Railways, Light Rail Systems, Infrastructure and Logistics Fair – Eurasia Rail held in Istanbul between the dates of March 2 and 4, 2017.

According to disclosures made during Eurasia Rail, there will be a need of 7,000 rail transport vehicles for inner-city transport in Turkey until 2023 including vehicles to be renewed such as metro, LRT, tramcars, tram-busses and commuter vehicles. The total cost of vehicles to be procured until 2023 is determined as € 20 billion including inter-city high speed trains, EMU, DMU rail systems and freight vehicles. The figure is estimated as € 50 billion including infrastructure works.

22 metro vehicles manufactured by Bozankaya in Ankara will be operated in Bangkok

22 metro vehicles manufactured by Bozankaya in the company’s factory in Ankara will start transporting passengers in 2018 in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand.

Bangkok had made an order in 2016 to Siemens and Bozankaya, the producer of transport vehicles, for the procurement of 22 metro vehicles. It is reported that the production of vehicles are about to be completed in Bozankaya’s factory in Ankara. Bozankaya Chairman of the Board Aytunç Günay giving information on the latest developments in the project during ‘Eurasia Rail’, said “We have reached the final point in the project realized with the partnership of Siemens. Turkish made metro vehicles manufactured which we produced in Ankara will be started to be operated in Bangkok in 2018. Siemens will also undertake the servicing and the maintenance of the vehicles for a period of 16 years. Turkey presently undersigns very serious projects in the field.”
