Important Disclosures Made by Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication Minister Ahmet Arslan

“It is out of question that anybody is withdrawing in an environment where everybody is in a race to take place in the 3rd Airport Project which is a prestige project worldwide. We aim to put into service the initial phase of the project in the first quarter of 2018”…

Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication Minister Ahmet Arslan replied questions from the press during a program he took part in Ankara.

Arslan upon a question on allegations that a Dutch firm has withdrawn its support from the 3^rd Airport Project, said that all firms including the company in question are still in the business and that they aim to put into service the initial phase of the project in the first quarter of 2018.

Arslan emphasizing that all works in the project are being executed as planned, spoke as follows:

“We have given the best answer to all play makers that try to depict a weak picture of our country in the economical sense in the prevailing conditions, by having realized the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge tender in a very successful manner. Bids were submitted by 7 national and 8 foreign participants from 4 countries. Also, 13 finance institutions submitted letters of goodwill to finance the project, and these letters ore of utmost importance in such a system. It is out of question that anybody is withdrawing from the 3^rd Airport in Istanbul when our country proceeds with such reliability and stability and when such extensive offers are being made for projects in the country. “

Arslan also pointing out that one of the most prominent companies in the world continues to install the entire conveyor system at the 3^rd Airport in a very successful manner, commented as follows: “The extraordinary interest shown by Turkish and foreign companies in all the projects within the scope of the 3^rd Airport still continues. It is out of question that anybody is withdrawing in an environment where everybody is in a race to take place in the 3^rd Airport Project which is a prestige project worldwide and not only for purposes of commercial interests.”
