Noteworthy Statements by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources
"We will start very important investments and projects in the Energy Sector in the forthcoming period. We have decided to make 10% price reduction in natural gas as from 1 October. It is set clearly and concretely that there is sun and wind in Turkey."
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak has made noteworhty statements at an inauguration ceremony. Minister Albayrak has noted that start very important investments and projects in the Energy Sector would be started in the forthcoming period, that they would never refrain from making investment in Turkey, contributing to growth and economy. Underlining they will work harder for realizing set objectives in the forthcoming period, Albayrak said, "With this intention, we will realize the steps planned to be taken in the field of local and renewable transformation particularly in natural gas sector, energy generation, mining sectors. Towards the end of year we will launch first tender in both local coal and also in solar energy fields, we will also take initial steps for realizing a first for Turkey to be a R&D center." "10% reduction in natural gas" Minister Albayrak has noted 10% price reduction in natural gas was decided to be made as from October 1, and said, "We earlier noted that following the BOTAŞ to carry the burden after the first positive decision taken on Iran Arbitration case as of new year, would reflect as price reduction. There will be no problem in respect of reduction in the decisions signed as of new year. "One of the important subject in relations of Turkey and Russia is energy" Also dwelling upon Turkish Stream, Minister Albayrak said, "A relief and normalization of the relations after a difficult period starting from 24 November onward, for seven months. One of the important subject in relations of Turkey and Russia is energy. Turkish Stream was brought to a certain stage until 24 November. We started in the same way now and continue. Discussions continue on whether a positive step could be taken by Russian and Turkish Side when Mr.Putin is in Turkey within the coverage of Energy Congress. It seems a significant progress will be attained on Turkish Stream in the process. We will see this more clearly and concretely when Mr. Putin come". Minister Albayrak has reported that there were 5-6 regions set in respect of local coal, underlined the importance of supply-demand balances in the regions for taking best benefit of the investments. Noting particularly, Ankara Çayırhan became important Albayrak said, "We plan to announce tender next week, the latest. We have reached the final stage in renewable energy. We will announce it in October. It is clear and concrete that there is sun and wind in Turkey".
