Iron & Steel Fair is in Istanbul

Ankiros International Iron - Steel & Foundry Technology, Machinery and Products Trade Fair will be held in Istanbul between the dates of September 29 and October 1, 2016 at TÜYAP Fair Convention and Congress Center.

Around one thousand Turkish and foreign companies from a number of countries will participate in the Fair which is being anxiously awaited by the metallurgy sector and which is one of the most important fairs of the year of which the 13th is being organized this year. Japanese, German, Chinese and Russian companies draw attention among participating companies, whereas Italian Trade Promotion Agency will participate with 11 companies.

Global Fairs Deputy President Wolfrang Lenarz, Cecof/ Cemefon Secretary General Dr. Timo Würz,18th International Metallurgy and Material Congress Executive Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Onuralp Yücel, Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Metallurgical Engineers Tunçay Şulan, Turkish Steel Producers’ Association Secretary General Dr. Veysel Yayan and Turkish Foundry Industrialists Association’s Chairman of the Board Uğur Kocaoğlu will participate in the opening ceremony of the Fair besides Hannover Messe Ankiros Fuarcılık A.Ş. (Trade Fair Inc.) General Manager İbrahim Anıl.

As will be known, Turkey ranked the 9th worldwide in the iron & steel works industry in 2015 with a production of 31.5 million tons.

As will be recalled, the Ministry of Economy most recently disclosed that new protective policies would be on the agenda regarding the Iron & Steel Works Sector. The disclosure made by the Ministry was quoted as follows: “Turkey has ended up with the position of an importer country in the steel works industry. The iron & steel works sector which is of strategic importance for the country will be continued to be protected from the damaging effects of imports by means of arrangements to be made either by means of protective instruments in trade policies and also within the framework of the import regime if deemed necessary TEBA:1775/ July 26, 2016
